Kimetsu no Yaiba tells the story of the adventures of Tanjiro Kamado who is trying to turn his younger brother, Nezuko, into a human. Nezuko is currently transformed into a demon because of the actions of the demon lord, Muzan Kibutsuji who also massacred the Tanjiro family. In the next adventure, Tanjiro then meets Zenitsu Agatsuma and Inosuke Hashibira.

The three then join the demon-slaying organization, Kisatsutai. The strongest knights in Kisatsutai are called Hashira (Pillars). In the Mugen Ressha Arc, Tanjiro, Zenitsu, Nezuko, and Inosuke meet Fire Hashira, Kyojuro Rengoku. They investigate Mugen Ressha due to reports of many missing people on the train.

Sure enough, this carriage was controlled by Enmu, one of Muzan Kibutsuji’s 12 moon demons. Rengoku helps Tanjiro’s friends defeat Enmu. However, he was seriously injured after his fight with Akaza. Towards his death, Rengoku advised Tanjiro, Inosuke, and Zenitsu, believing that the three of them would become the next generation of Hashira.
