Anime Review: Sayonara Watashi no Cramer (2021). sayonara, Watashi no Cramer is an anime series produced by studio LIDENFILMS which premiered on April 4, 2021 (Spring) and airs every Sunday at 23:30 JST. The series is based on a manga adaptation titled “Sayonara Watashi no Cramer” by Naoshi Arakawa, which was serialized by Kodansha in Monthly Shōnen Magazine, from May 6, 2016, to December 4, 2020, and has produced 14 volumes. Sayonara Watashi no Cramer itself is a sequel to the work entitled “Sayonara Football” which Naoshi Arakawa-sensei had serialized in E-no Magazine from June 20, 2009, to August 20, 2010, which at that time had produced 2 volumes. Sayonara Watashi no Cramer has a genre; Drama, Sports.
Storyline Sayonara Watashi
Sayonara Watashi no Cramer tells the story of Nozomi Onda, a girl who is talented in soccer, but never got a chance to play in official matches during her 3 years of junior high school, because there is no girls soccer club at her school, so her talent is only channeled in men’s soccer club. On the other hand, the story also tells of Sumire Suou who spent her middle school years without any football achievements, because she was always hindered by her friend and main rival, Midori Soshizaki. However, on the other hand, who would have thought that in his last year of middle school, Soshizaki invited Suou to join the same girls’ soccer club when he was in high school. With this, the new curtain of the story of these female soccer players begins… (this is far from the existing synopsis, but I adjusted the prefix I watched, so as not to feel weird hehe)
Sayonara Watashi no Cramer is an interesting anime series and I think this includes a new anime that takes the theme of sports about women’s soccer, which when I watched it gave quite a lot of new things because it had problems that tasted different from men’s soccer, so that in finally resulted in a different storyline with the existing soccer anime.
However, this series also has weaknesses or maybe something that needs to be criticized, namely about providing information that I feel is lacking. This is something that can’t be faulted because the sports theme provided is a very popular sport, so it doesn’t need to be provided with a lot of information, it’s okay. However, I think this series should have a female audience, who may lack knowledge of football, and ultimately find it difficult to keep up with the series.
Character Sayonara Watashi
This series introduces 3 main characters, namely Nozomi Onda, a person who enjoys competition and is full of confidence, Sumire Suou, who is quiet and difficult to work with, and Midori Soshizaki, who is easily provoked and likes surprising things. I find these three characters interesting because they create various strange things in each scene, and the attitude they display is always interesting to watch, which in the end makes me think that they are unique characters.
As for the characters themselves, I thought that there might be a discussion about the problems that each main character would face, but if you look at the number of chapters provided in the manga, it makes me think that maybe it will only be provided a little, and in the character section it might be prioritizing common problems in the Warabi Team.
From this section, I hope that a good character development process will be provided because at the beginning it appears that their abilities are still not mature enough, and from that, it feels a shame if the development process is not provided, because in my opinion the character development process is one of the important aspects from this type of anime, so if it is not provided it feels less satisfying to watch.
Talking about sports, what I want to talk about from this series is how this series provides information that can make the audience understand what is provided. This series is not wrong if it doesn’t provide a lot of information, because the sports themes provided are popular, so this series only provides information that sounds unusual.
However, in my mind, there is a thought that this series can spark interest among women, where maybe after watching this series there will be many women who are interested in playing women’s soccer, and this is not a strange thing, because there have been many incidents where a series can make the audience became interested in what the series was doing, as well as this series, so I feel for this series it seems that providing the information is something that needs to be done.
The provision of information will also make the scope of the audience wider, because those who do not understand may understand and be interested in watching this series, and those who already understand will have more knowledge. However, on the other hand, this will eat up a portion of the story, and at worst it will make the main story more shortened, so that in the end this is also difficult to determine, and in the end may be what is now is the best decision because I think the author, in the end, this series is more familiar with the series than me.
Sayonara Watashi no Cramer is an interesting anime series, and it can be called unique because it has a new topic and discussion for me to watch. This series doesn’t seem to have anything that I need to criticize, because what is currently available if I think about it has its reasons, and it feels like what is being provided now is very good and good, so there’s not much to worry about about hehe.
Sayonara Watashi no Cramer itself doesn’t need to be discussed in full later, because I think we should make this series a light discussion in the comments column. Besides that, because I always believe that my discussion must be wrong or something is missing, then we can also correct or complete it in the comments column later hehe.
