Synopsis

Traumatized by a childhood incident with a friend who overruled his love of traditional dolls, puppet craftsman Wakana Gojou hopes to get through his days as a loner, finding solace in the living room of his high school.

To Wakana, people like the beautiful Marin Kitagawa, a trendy girl who is always surrounded by many friends, are practically aliens from another world.

But when the bubbly Marin—never shy—sees Wakana sewing one day after school, she barges in intending to tie her quiet classmate into her secret hobby: cosplay! Will Wakana’s wounded heart be able to handle the invasion of this sexy alien?!

Storyline

The anime focuses on Wakana Gojou who is traumatized by an incident from his childhood. He is considered a strange friendship because boys like him like traditional dolls.

Now Wakana can only spend her days at school alone. To Wakana, people like the beautiful and popular Marin Kitagawa were another being completely different from her.

One day, when he was in the craft club room making doll clothes, Kitagawa caught him. Kitagawa, who turned out to be a cosplay hobby, suddenly asked him to make a costume for her. The story between them begins.

Fukuda published the My Dress-Up Darling manga in Square Enix’s Young Gangan magazine in January 2018. The publisher published the seventh compiled volume in April 2021.
